Stand up campaign

The Stand up campaign will take place this year from 16-18 October 2009. This is the fourth time the campaign is organized worldwide conveying the call of millions to world leaders throughout the planet to end poverty and act urgently to achieve the MDGs. The campaign is especially important this year, given the so little time left for the deadline of 2015 and the risk that the economic crisis could reverse the modest achievements toward the MDGs. Last year about 117 million people took part to the campaign. This year can exceed this record by: (1) Organizing our own stand up events (with our respective agencies staff) and (2) Reaching out to our networks to encourage schools, youth, NGOs, media, parliamentarians, academia, opinion leaders, media and also religious leaders to organize stand up events.
