United Nations Under-Secretary-General Mr. Jeffrey Feltman visits National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC)

The United Nations Under-Secretary-General Mr. Jeffrey Feltman visited the Somali National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) as part of a high-level visit to Somalia on Friday. The Commission presented Mr Feltman with its preparatory plans for universal elections by 2021, with NIEC Chairperson Halima Ismail Ibrahim outlining the importance of the steps that need to be taken by all stakeholders, to achieve what will be the first general elections in the country since 1969.
